Who we are
ZAWAJ is a wedding planner for Muslim couples in Minnesota, with a directory of wedding vendors. Questions about your information go to hello@planzawaj.com.
What we keep
Your account: your email address. We sign you in with a link or code sent to it, so there is no password to store.
Your wedding: what you tell us while planning: dates, events, guest count, city, budget and preferences, the vendors you save, request and book, your tasks, your budget entries and your playlists.
Vendors you add yourself: if you add a vendor who isn’t on ZAWAJ, the name, price and any phone, email, Instagram or website you give for them.
Requests: what you send a vendor (your name, the email and phone you enter, your wedding details and your message) and their replies.
Your guests: the names, party sizes, sides and groups you put on your guest list, and an email or phone for a guest if you choose to add one. When guests reply to your invitation, their name, party size, answer and note.
People you invite: the email address of a partner or helper you invite to your plan.
The launch list: if you ask us to tell you when ZAWAJ opens, your email, and the wedding month and city if you give them.
Vendors: business details, the contact person, phone, email, photos, prices and answers given in the application and portal. Applications are delivered to our team inbox.Why we keep it
To match you with vendors who fit, build and save your plan, deliver your requests and their replies, and send the emails you would expect: sign-in links, a note when a vendor replies or a couple sends a request, a partner or helper invitation you ask us to send, an invitation to join ZAWAJ for a vendor you added (only when you tap “Email it to them”), a note to your DJ when you share a playlist, and one email when we open if you joined the launch list. Your invitations to guests are shared by you, as a link; we don’t email your guests. We don’t sell your information, show ads or use tracking analytics.
Who sees it
Vendors see what you put in a request to them, including the name, email and phone you enter on it. They don’t see the rest of your plan.
Your DJ sees a playlist only after you share it with them, and only that playlist. A private playlist link shows the playlist, your wedding’s name and date to anyone you give it to, until you turn the link off.
Your partner sees and edits the whole plan, including the budget and requests, and can invite helpers.
Helpers (family or friends you invite) can see the plan, the guest list and replies, invitations and playlists, and tick off tasks you assign them. They can’t see money (the budget, prices or the vendors you added yourself) or your requests to vendors, and they can’t change anything else.
Vendors’ phone numbers and emails are never shown on public profiles; first contact goes through ZAWAJ.
Services we use to run ZAWAJ: Supabase (our database and sign-in), Resend (email) and our website host. They handle your information only to provide that service to us. Sample photos on the site load from Unsplash, so your browser connects to Unsplash’s servers to show them.Cookies and your device
We use one kind of cookie: the one that keeps you signed in. We also keep a few things in your browser’s storage on your device, such as a plan or list you start before signing in, and whether you’ve seen the welcome tour. There are no advertising or tracking cookies.
Payments
You pay vendors directly. ZAWAJ never takes or handles your payments to vendors, so we never see your card or bank details.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your information while you have an account or are on the launch list. Email hello@planzawaj.com from the address you use with ZAWAJ to get a copy, correct something or delete it all; we do it within 30 days. Requests already delivered to a vendor stay with that vendor.
Age
ZAWAJ is for adults. Please don’t use it if you are under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we’ll say so on the site and, for big changes, by email. Last updated October 2026.
